Context & Research
Leading Question
In a world where the car drives itself, the experience becomes the product.
If driving in 2035 becomes optional,
how do we design a car that makes Gen Z want to drive?
Concept
In 2035, fully autonomous vehicles will be the norm. Driving won't be mandatory, it will be a choice. We designed around a tension that defines how Gen Z moves through the world: the need to switch between modes across the different moments of their day.
Our car has two modes. Play mode answers the desire to drive (actively engaging, performance-forward, fully present). Pause mode answers the desire to disconnect (the car takes over, the interior softens, and the driver becomes a passenger). Two modes, one car, designed for a generation that has various ways to exist in society.
