Symbols of Sacramento is a research-driven design project exploring the visual identity of California's capital. Beginning with the official Sacramento seal, this project examines each symbolic element by unpacking its historical origins and the story it tells about the city's past. From there, these components are reimagined into a modern visual system: one that's more versatile across applications, more visually cohesive as a unified identity, and more reflective of Sacramento as it exists today.

The result is a set of symbols designed not to replace history, but to carry it forward in a form that feels relevant, functional, and distinctly Sacramento.
